We used several products and supplies in the making of our s’mores box gift card holder. Below is a list of what we used.

The s’more box comes in two sections.  The bottom ‘box’ part, and the top which makes up the bulk of the box and provides its decoration and appearance.

Assembling The Bottom Of The Box

The bottom is pretty straight forward.  It’s made of one piece, and all you need to do is fold up the sides and secure them with the tabs as shown.

This is the extent of the structure for the bottom of the box.  The top of the box is in three main pieces: chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker.

S’mores Need Chocolate

The chocolate for our s’more is assembled the same as the bottom box.  Just fold up the sides and secure in place using the tabs. You’ll notice that the sides of the chocolate aren’t straight, this gives a melting look when done.

We set the chocolate on the box and set it aside to work on the marshmallow.

Mmmmm…Marshmallow

Our s’more’s marshmallow is made of eight identical pieces so no worry about which one goes in what order.

We bent them along the score lines then started gluing them together.  It worked best for us if we did the bottom tab first. Then once secure, glue the other three in one go. Hold the tabs in place while the glue sets. Continue until all eight pieces are connected.

Once you have all eight connected you need to connect the first and the last one.  It’s kind of awkward to do, but just continue as before.  Attach the bottom tab, let the glue set, then attach the other three.  It’s okay if your final attachment isn’t perfectly aligned, it’ll be covered by the decorative panels soon.  Just get as close as possible.

Once the sides of the marshmallow are in place, it’s time to add the top and bottom to give it some stability and help attach it to the chocolate and cracker later.  Place glue onto one of the tabs and attach the large panel.

Once this is secure, add glue to the rest of the tabs and hold the large panel in place.

Now you can do the same for the other side.  Once this panel was attached we added something for light pressure to allow the glue to set and ensure that the final marshmallow set flat.

Toasting Our Marshmallow

While this was setting, we started working on the ‘toasting’ the marshmallow for our s’more.  We add some chalk to the decorative panels of the marshmallow.  For this we only used brown or tan but it would be fun to use grey or black for a more…toasted…. marshmallow!  Once done we bent the pieces a little bit to encourage them to take the shape of the marshmallow.  Be careful to not crease them though.

Put a thin line of glue across the two straight sides of the panels and place them on each side to give a smoother look to the marshmallow.

Building The S’more Cracker

To make the top cracker for the s’more, there are two pieces that make up the sides.  Glue them together to form a square as shown.

Once you have this done, you can fold in the tabs on one side, add glue and put in one of the square panels.  Press down where the tabs are to help create a good hold with your glue.

To attach the other panel, we like to fold out one of the tabs, add glue then put the square on as shown.  This allowed us to press the panel and the tab together while being sure it’s nice and straight on the square. When this is done you can add glue to the other tabs and secure the square in place.

Decorating The Cracker

There are two extra squares that are used as decorative panels.  We chose to emboss them and add ink and chalk to give them some texture.  We then added one to cracker box, covering the exposed tabs. The other we placed on the bottom of the box we assembled at the beginning.

Assembling The S’more

Once the graham cracker box is ready, the s’more can be assembled.  Place glue on one side of the marshmallow, then center it on the graham cracker as shown.  The side panels of the marshmallow are a little smaller than the graham cracker so the octagon panel should not be visible. Apply gentle pressure to create a good hold between the two pieces.

Once this is set, add glue again to the other side of the marshmallow and line it up with the chocolate box lid. Apply gentle pressure to obtain a nice hold.  Be sure that when you do this you have the bottom of the box in place as the sides of the chocolate box are contoured and won’t lay flat otherwise.
