Materials Used

We used several products and supplies in the making of this fun movie popcorn box. Below is a list of what we used.

These popcorn boxes are super fun! We have the larger one put together with several pieces and has a popcorn lid. This of course can be scaled up or down to fit your needs. The smaller one is set to be a quicker assembly and has no popcorn top.

Small Popcorn Box

We’ll start with the smaller popcorn box as it is completed in just a few steps. First, we took the base piece and folded along all the score lines. Then we added glue to the long panel on one side and attached it to create a square shape. Press along this tab to get a strong hold. Next, we added glue to the tabs on the bottom of the box and folded the bottom panel in place to close off the bottom.

Next, we attached the decorative panels to the side of the box.

Large Popcorn Box Assembly

The larger popcorn box goes together in a similar way, but each side is a separate piece so they need to be attached to each other using the long tabs to create the square shape. We chose to place the decorative panel on each side before attaching the sides to each other. You can choose to do this or wait until the box is fully assembled.

Once all four sides were attached and had their decorative panels in place, we folded the tabs at the bottom in and added glue to the inside. We then placed one of the square bottom panels inside and pressed down to secure it in place. Once this was done, we turned the box over and glued the other square base panel on the bottom, covering the exposed tabs.

Popcorn Box Lid Assembly

The final step is to assemble the popcorn lid. This is done by starting with the four base panels. All four are identical so they can go together in any order. First you need to fold along all the score lines, then start by attaching one of the tabs at either the top or bottom to the next panel. Make sure to have the pieces squared up. Once this tab is in place,
you can work on attaching the other tabs as shown. Continue until all four panels are attached to each other, creating a domed square.

For our next step, we added the decorative panels. These are also all identical so you can place them on any side and they will fit. To do this, add glue to the back of the decorative panel and line it up with the fold lines, making sure to have the point all the way up at the top, then gently run your fingers down toward the fold at the bottom to secure it in place.

For our final step, we made the individual popcorn decorations and attached them to the top using foam dots. This gives them some dimension and provides you with a little something to hold to when opening or closing the box.
