Materials Used

We used several products and supplies in the making of this cake and cupcake toppers and our movie banner. Below is a list of what we used.

Cupcake Toppers

First we assembled the 2D image for the cupcake toppers. Then we glued a wooden skewer to the base layer before attaching the decorative top. This helps cover up the skewer so it’s not visible from behind.

Cake Topper

We chose to make the cake topper have various layers of depth by using foam dots. If this isn’t what you want, you can make the cake topper as just paper layers. We put our dots behind the reel layer, behind the ticket layer, and behind the sound clapper.  This is optional and you can do any combination or skip it altogether.  It just depends on the look you want for the topper.  We also chose to add pop dots to the popcorns at the top of the topper and behind one on the bottom corner.

To attach the lollipop sticks to the back, we placed a line of hot glue then pressed the skewer into position.  Once this was done, we hand cut a rectangle to match the base layer (length and width depend on the lollipops used and how much you put on the back, we recommend at least a couple inches on the back for stability) and glued it over the lollipop stick just to cover it up.  This is purely aesthetic and can be skipped if you want.

Banner

To start with the banner, we assembled all the individual pieces then laid them out in the order we wanted. When attaching the string to the back, we left a little on one end to use for hanging then glued the first piece in place.  We used a line of hot glue and pressed the string into the glue.

Once dry, we used a roll of floral tape to help give us regular distances between the pieces and to weigh the string down while applying glue and attaching the next piece of the banner.  You can use whatever you want for spacing the pieces. We chose the floral tape because it was just what we had on hand.  We then continued in our desired order until all pieces were attached.
